Rendering of the Future Campus
The image above represents what the new campus might look like in the late afternoon sun. The image was prepared to suggest what the masses of the campus buildings might look like in the Florida sun, surrounded by lush and thick vegetation. It represents an image only. The actual design of all of the new day school buildings will occur in the design phases preceding their construction.

Facility Master Plan

The Good Shepherd Day School, under the direction of the architectural firm of Anderson, Mason, Dale Architects, Inc. completed a Facility Master Plan in 2000. This plan is a guide for the direction and future growth of the Good Shepherd Campus. The goals and objectives for the new school were developed in the initial project workshop in August of 2000.

The new school will provide a traditional educational environment during the academic year, and offer other programs all year. The school will provide life-enriching activities for children and families alike that will make this institution a great asset to the community of Punta Gorda.

An important element of the school’s design will be to set the highest standards for private, independent Preschool through twelfth grade education in the region. The basic organization of the master plan is to create an academic zone on the southern portion of the Shreve Street site which will become the heart of the campus. The academic zone has classroom and support buildings organized around an open green space, referred to as the commons. The program spaces, which form its eastern, southern and western edges, are the Student Union and Upper School future building sites.

The school is currently working with the firm of Parker, Mudgett, Smith Architects out of Ft. Myers to develop Schematic Designs and Construction Documents for the expansion. Plans are to begin construction of the Kindergarten through Eighth Grade facility in May of 2004. Phase II, a Student Union and activity center, is scheduled for 2006, and the Upper School facility in 2008.

“The General Contractor for Phase 1 is Wayne Goff”.
